I learned alot this weekend

1.If you see a concert on Halloween people do dress up

2.Real councerts involve drunk people, even if it's not hard/druggy rock

3.There is a dissapointing lack of diversity in holloween candys people give out.

4.My aunt gets really, really, mad with any talk of politics, even saying stuff like "I support Obama". Apperantly it's "not fair to the little ones." You know whats not fair to the little ones? not exsplaining and censoring everything that goes on in the world only to have them confused when they grow up.

5.Conor Oberst looks nice in a ghoast busters suit.

6.Tye Dyeing is really fun and you can make lots of cool things.

7.Cell phone camaras will not be able to take pics during a show

8.It is always worth waiting if you hate one of the opening bands(s).

9.Gas is cheaper in "real america"

10.Doing one really fun thing can make up for a shitty rest of the weekend.

So Friday was one of the best nights of my life, minus the part where kids think i am sad at school beacause I go to councerts by myself. Im sorry I dont want to see your shitty Fall Out Boy bands pretend to be the next Nirvana, It's really sad that I like good music and have my own taste.

I can honestly say i have never been to a real show before this, the enviroment of live music in generial is exsiting. I felt out of place, most of the people where college kids, but I look older. The first band wasn't really my kind of music, the second band was good. It's funny how exsited I got when he acctuelly got on the stage. It's honestly hard not to look like a 14 year old fan girl...oh shit wait....

The people near me where trying to steal the fig newtons from the guy infront of thems pocket. The people behind me where dressed up like rednecks with McCain Palin shirts. The band dressed up as ghoast busters, that was rather funny. Conor was drinking beer between every song and I was scared he'd be wasted by the end of the show. He might of been, but he still preformed well. My Dad, who was sitting in the back pretending not to know me, said that bands always drink on stage.

It was fucking great.

So then for a total change I spent a saturday night at.....A one year olds birthday party! where my aunt freaked out at me for mentioning politics. It is the week of the election for christs sake. Whats funny is my little cousins are mostly Obama supporters even though their parents are republicans. I'm still a bit upset with one of my cousins for useing my old doll to pick her nose but thats anouther story.My aunt also has a statue of a crying bunny in her yard, thats sad.

This may possibly be the most exicting week of my life, Obama is going to win. McCain whould have to win all the toss up states PLUS some of the Obama states. We will regain out respect in the world wide community, I wish I was allowed to stay up all night and watch it, although we have a half day tomorrow.

Columbus did not discover America, we all know that. If you don’t you have been living under a rock, or you go to a catholic school. But do we know what he really did? In 7th grade I found a book on my dads bookshelf called “lies my teacher told me” I thought it would be funny. It wasn’t funny, but it changed the way I think about history.

Lets learn about Columbus now.

Columbus did not set sail to prove the world was round. Many educated people knew the earth was round thousands of years before Columbus. He set sail to find gold, spices, and silks, and other riches in Asia. Columbus landed on an island between Florida and Cuba, no one is sure exactly what island it was. Columbus believed he was in Asia even after three voyages to America and more than a decade of study.

Columbus was not even the first white man to settle in the Americans Scandinavian Vikings already had settlements here in the eleventh century, and British fisherman may fished in Canada decades before Columbus.

So what did he do? Well He seized 1,200 Taino Indians crammed as many onto his ships as would fit and sent them to Spain and sold them as slaves. His marauding band hunted Indians for sport and profit - beating, raping, torturing, killing, and then using the Indian bodies as food for their hunting dogs. The Spaniards demanded that the remaining Indians bring gold. There was almost no gold on Hispaniola. The people were told that if they brought no gold, nor spun cotton as a substitute, they would have their hands cut off and be left to bleed to death. So they fled. Some of the people in his crew tried to take young girls and force them to have sex, when they didn’t the crew raped them, some of them as young as ten. They also brought viruses from Europe that the natives did not have immunity too. Eventually life for the natives became so awful that many took their own life’s. Woman began to abort there children at birth because they believed the children would be happier dead. Within 50 years the population had been wiped out. We know all of this because Columbus and some of his crewmates kept diaries. Only after four years of Columbus' arrival his men had killed or exported one-third of the original Indian population of 300,000. Within another 50 years, the Taino people had been made extinct.

Therefore by celebrating Columbus day we are celebrating a man who was a slave trader. Personally, I think that we should celebrate Indigenous People's Day instead of Columbus day (did you know Berkeley California does that? just a fun fact).

my mom took me shopping in wiker park for my birthday and i got loads of stuff and this one store had kittys in it and one of the kittys looked like it had two legs missing so my mom felt bad and started petting it even though she's allergic but turns out the cat was just kinda fat and it was sitting on its legs and we chouldn't see them so my mom got an allergic reaction for nothing.

After that she decided my brother needs cloths to so we went to the mall. at the mall they sell a lot of the same stuff they had at wiker park cos apperantly being a hipster is the new tread the stores have discovered to make money off of , but it was like three times the price so I was all “lol fail”. My brother only goes shopping if i go with him cos he wont let my mom pick stuff out for him so i went and my mom wanted him to go to talbets and i was like "eww no those are like morman cloths" and he thought it was the funnyist thing on earth and then he said he wanted ~teenager cloths~ so i told him that teenage boys normally shop at like hollister/abercrombie and american eagle and we hate hollister and abercrombie in our family so we went to american eagle and i bought something for myself even though i thought i hated that store

Stephen Colbert is taking like 3 weeks off and it is killing me. I don't want to have to get my news from CNN they all make really lame jokes and are dull.

But i have a new show i like SOUTH PARK BITCHES

only my brother thinks he is mature enouth to watch whatever I watch so he always wants to watch south park and I am like "this is not approprate for you" and hes like "i dont care"

so the last 3 weeks i was at summerschool my teacher was a very annoying lady. BUT the kids at my high school are much more rebelious, like I wasn't the only one who whould rasie my hand and say something when I disagreed with her. I also wasn't the only one who stood near the door when she tryed to keep us in after the bell rung cuz she chouldn't find her freaking hole puncher and she thought we stole it. I don't know why anyone whould steal a hole puncher. and when we did an "unlikey icon" i made a person up cuz i didn't want to mess up anyone i knows face and i got away with it. The guys who sat behind me wanted to do slash and tell the teacher he was there uncle and that whould have tottaly worked I really doubt the teacher knows who he is and if they used his real name they whould have tottaly gotten away with it but they didn't.

I am now a graduate of the 8th grade, apperantly that is a big deal. My mom threw a graduation party for me and I got like 400 bucks. Now I need to find the CDs i want :).

I'm in Portland Oregon right now. Portland is a lovely city. It's very pretty over here. There are trees everywhere! even downtown, and the city is surronded my mountins. It's a bit chily out but at least we are not getting storms. On the subject of weather back home in chicago we had a tornado watch every day for three days! There was a tornado that landed south of us! I saw a image of it but i can't find it now, it was big.

I rented the movie "singles" for the plain ride. It wasnt as good as i thought but it was entertaining enouth.EDIT: SINGLES IS A HORRIBLE MOVIE THEY ARE JUST DRESSED UP IN GRUNGE CLOTHS TO LOOK COOL THE DUDE CANNOT ACT AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY PEARL JAM AND ALICE AND CHAINS AND ALL THOSE BANDS WASTED THEIR TIME, ALSO THE CAMERON CROWE GUY WHO DIRECTED IT IS A DUDE AND I THOUGHT CAMERON WAS A GIRLS NAME SO THAT SUPRISED ME

so I got a new ipod, It is the new nano and it plays videos, but they take up alot of space. It will be nice for the airplane ride to PORTLAND OREGON IN TWO WEEKS!!!!! :)

So tommorow is memorial day. I think all the dead people whould rather us not have it, It is now a corperate holiday so stores can put up memorial day sales, So the people are talking advantage of it. Not really respectful to the people who died for this country.

It's finally warm out, of course it will thunderstorm and bring a cold front. The heat has not been bad at all so far, Last year it was 80 degrees in march! (of course then it snowed in april)

So my new favorite person to make fun of is Axl Rose. Hence the fact that I have also began to find amusement in pissing of Guns N Roses fans. (but if someone likes the band you'd think they whouldn't like Axl, he killed his own band) I know this is probably not the most healthy thing to find amusement in but I just find it fun, It's like my version of going to the mall.

My ipod has died

A few mounths ago i told myself if my ipod ever broke i whould be really really sad. Well a few days ago the battery died so i decided I would go get some cds. I found a nice local used record store. I origannly wanted to get two of the following albums

The CD store had about every cd exsept for those. So i got A Pearl Jam cd and a Screaming Trees CD. For some reason Bright Eyes was in "underground rock" I whouldn't call Bright Eyes underground, I mean i know Green Day fans (other then myself) that listen to Bright Eyes. The ipod battery is like 50 bucks so i will have to wait. But I have been doing fine.

I am supposed to be doing homework right now, but I had to give my Mom her mothers day presents first, then i went on the computer and began editing my five page essay, But of course then my brother yells "THERE IS A THING ON HIPPIES ON TV" and obv. I had the watch the two hour thing on hippies that was on, which i found to be a bit negitive. And now i have to post on this beacuase I do not have family members that want to listen to me rant about what is going on in my life.

The stupid pink smileys are also back for a period of time due to lack of other smileys i can find.
