Umm, oh yeah LA

LA was pretty cool. I was actually not very into the idea of going there instead of Colorado because i thought it would be really smoggy and full of earthquakes, forest fires, and fake boobs. But it wasn't like that at all.Venice beach was the best. Its great people watching and people go walking around with no shoes on smoking pot freely (even though its technically illegal for non medical purposes.) California is so much more open, like here you cant even get marijuana for medical reasons and gay marriage wasnt even on the ballet or anything. I also find hills and stuff really pretty because we dont have many in the Midwest. We didn't stay very close to the coast so it was really hot. The day we got their it was like 106 degrees F, but the house had good AC (unlike ours, its either really hot or really cold in our house) and there was a pool in the backyard. The first day it was actually so hot that when the pool water splashed onto the cement it made a sizzling noise! Last time it got over 100 hot here for more then like 3 days like 600 people died, but thats because here it gets humid so it dosn't cool down at night (and it feels really gross when its hot out). And the really great part was there where literately no misquotes. In the midwest you can hardly go out from like 6-8:30 pm because of all the misquotes.But i guess its to dry for them there. The funny thing about California is there are health warnings everywhere though, they have these signs at all the restaurants that say "WARNING, FOOD SERVED HERE IS KNOWN TO CAUSE CANCER BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA" because i guess everything causes cancer there. In Hollywood there was a store that sold all band shirts and posters and i got a RHCP shirt and i think my family bought me a Alice In Chains poster for my birthday because they saw me looking at it and then my mom told me not to look at what they where buying. I also like my LA relatives more then most of my Illinois relatives, they are less loud and dont interrupt people as much. They also have more interesting storys about things like evil nuns.

In attempt to keep music alive

Now that a few people actually read my blog I feel the need to share some free downloads from a few sites. These are legal and i have never got any spyware from them (i'd still scan for virus's just in case, i cant be 100% sure). Most of these are newer realises from 80s/90s alternative bands but a few are modern bands that don't suck. This took me a few hours to find these songs so dont expect for me to do this a lot.

I think Alice In Chains is pretty much my new favorite band. Although i do find it disrespectful that they replaced Layne with the new guy. I mean i dont have anything against the new guy as a person it's just Layne's voice was very unique and cannot be replaced. EDIT-THE NEW GUY IS ACTUALLY OK SEE HOW OPEN MINDED I AM THE NEW GUY NO LONGER PISSES ME OFF.

But anyway Dr. Wax went out of business but i found a new place called 2nd hand tunes and it has a pretty good selection. If that goes out of business i will probably have to download illegally because i am not paying full price for new cds. I dont understand why those businesses die i mean you'd think people would like less expensive cds especially because people just burn them onto their ipods. But cds in general are not doing good because people just download the top ten on itunes and then when it gets "old" or not on the charts anymore they delete it. The one good chart song is paper planes by MIA but that is only popular because it was in that movie.

Anyways for positive..... I have been looking for new music and discovered the following bands in the past two months or so

Eddie Vedder was nominated for a grammy, this is bad because now ten year old girls will be like "who? oh well if he was nominated for a grammy he must be good!" and then download it and be like "OMGZ VEDDER IS SO KEWLLL OMG DO U KNOW WHO HE IS OMG" and i'll be like "yes i know who he is he is from pearl jam a popular band from the 90s" and then they will either be like "OMGZ THE 90Z THATS SO OLD EWWWW" or "OMGZ I AM SO GRUNGE".

I learned alot this weekend

1.If you see a concert on Halloween people do dress up

2.Real councerts involve drunk people, even if it's not hard/druggy rock

3.There is a dissapointing lack of diversity in holloween candys people give out.

4.My aunt gets really, really, mad with any talk of politics, even saying stuff like "I support Obama". Apperantly it's "not fair to the little ones." You know whats not fair to the little ones? not exsplaining and censoring everything that goes on in the world only to have them confused when they grow up.

5.Conor Oberst looks nice in a ghoast busters suit.

6.Tye Dyeing is really fun and you can make lots of cool things.

7.Cell phone camaras will not be able to take pics during a show

8.It is always worth waiting if you hate one of the opening bands(s).

9.Gas is cheaper in "real america"

10.Doing one really fun thing can make up for a shitty rest of the weekend.

So Friday was one of the best nights of my life, minus the part where kids think i am sad at school beacause I go to councerts by myself. Im sorry I dont want to see your shitty Fall Out Boy bands pretend to be the next Nirvana, It's really sad that I like good music and have my own taste.

I can honestly say i have never been to a real show before this, the enviroment of live music in generial is exsiting. I felt out of place, most of the people where college kids, but I look older. The first band wasn't really my kind of music, the second band was good. It's funny how exsited I got when he acctuelly got on the stage. It's honestly hard not to look like a 14 year old fan girl...oh shit wait....

The people near me where trying to steal the fig newtons from the guy infront of thems pocket. The people behind me where dressed up like rednecks with McCain Palin shirts. The band dressed up as ghoast busters, that was rather funny. Conor was drinking beer between every song and I was scared he'd be wasted by the end of the show. He might of been, but he still preformed well. My Dad, who was sitting in the back pretending not to know me, said that bands always drink on stage.

It was fucking great.

So then for a total change I spent a saturday night at.....A one year olds birthday party! where my aunt freaked out at me for mentioning politics. It is the week of the election for christs sake. Whats funny is my little cousins are mostly Obama supporters even though their parents are republicans. I'm still a bit upset with one of my cousins for useing my old doll to pick her nose but thats anouther story.My aunt also has a statue of a crying bunny in her yard, thats sad.

This may possibly be the most exicting week of my life, Obama is going to win. McCain whould have to win all the toss up states PLUS some of the Obama states. We will regain out respect in the world wide community, I wish I was allowed to stay up all night and watch it, although we have a half day tomorrow.

my mom took me shopping in wiker park for my birthday and i got loads of stuff and this one store had kittys in it and one of the kittys looked like it had two legs missing so my mom felt bad and started petting it even though she's allergic but turns out the cat was just kinda fat and it was sitting on its legs and we chouldn't see them so my mom got an allergic reaction for nothing.

After that she decided my brother needs cloths to so we went to the mall. at the mall they sell a lot of the same stuff they had at wiker park cos apperantly being a hipster is the new tread the stores have discovered to make money off of , but it was like three times the price so I was all “lol fail”. My brother only goes shopping if i go with him cos he wont let my mom pick stuff out for him so i went and my mom wanted him to go to talbets and i was like "eww no those are like morman cloths" and he thought it was the funnyist thing on earth and then he said he wanted ~teenager cloths~ so i told him that teenage boys normally shop at like hollister/abercrombie and american eagle and we hate hollister and abercrombie in our family so we went to american eagle and i bought something for myself even though i thought i hated that store

I am now a graduate of the 8th grade, apperantly that is a big deal. My mom threw a graduation party for me and I got like 400 bucks. Now I need to find the CDs i want :).

I'm in Portland Oregon right now. Portland is a lovely city. It's very pretty over here. There are trees everywhere! even downtown, and the city is surronded my mountins. It's a bit chily out but at least we are not getting storms. On the subject of weather back home in chicago we had a tornado watch every day for three days! There was a tornado that landed south of us! I saw a image of it but i can't find it now, it was big.

I rented the movie "singles" for the plain ride. It wasnt as good as i thought but it was entertaining enouth.EDIT: SINGLES IS A HORRIBLE MOVIE THEY ARE JUST DRESSED UP IN GRUNGE CLOTHS TO LOOK COOL THE DUDE CANNOT ACT AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY PEARL JAM AND ALICE AND CHAINS AND ALL THOSE BANDS WASTED THEIR TIME, ALSO THE CAMERON CROWE GUY WHO DIRECTED IT IS A DUDE AND I THOUGHT CAMERON WAS A GIRLS NAME SO THAT SUPRISED ME
